About IIT

Digital Skills Academy (DSA) is an initiative by IIT Madras under the Centre for Continuing Education, currently known as Centre for Outreach and Digital Education (CODE) following inputs from the apex industrial body NASSCOM IT-ITeS Sector Skill Council. DSA has as its main objectives

  • Enhancement of professional skills though online training in the areas of Engineering, Sciences, Humanities, Management, etc. in collaboration with industry training partners and other academic institutes,
  • Building Digital Skills in various current and futuristic technologies. It supplements / complements several other skills initiatives
  • Facilitate partners to become an official nodal partner to DSA at IITM,
  • To promote training, career oriented and employment generating upskilling / reskilling processes, in future skills requirement programme. DSA will engage in a fruitful partnership with IITM and its partner institutions in this project.


IIT Madras has initiated various training programmes for IT-ITES Industry's Future skills program, which aims to reskill/upskill 4 Million professionals and students in the new emerging technologies over the next 5 years in partnership with industry leaders in various technologies. 10 emerging technologies, namely, Cyber Security, Artificial Intelligence (Al), Big Data Analytics, Blockchain, Cloud Computing, Internet of Things, Mobile Tech, Robotic Process Automation, Virtual Reality and 3D Printing have been identified as part of "Future Skills" programme, an initiative of NASSCOM and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY).

Leading academicians from IIT Madras and other IlTs & NITs have created these programs with a blend of hands-on training and theoretical knowledge to make the trained resources to learners so that they will be productive from day one of their new roles in the IT - ITeS industry.

In addition, IIT Madras has initiated direct partnership and course offerings on these topics with emerging knowledge partners in the IT industry who emphasize hands on skills and employability.

Special emphasize is also being given to women who wish to return to IT profession with "Career Back 2 Women" where Data Science & Big Data Analytics, Al / ML, Cyber Security and Programming skills are offered as specializations for reskilling / upskilling them.

All are invited to explore and join various programs and learn theory as well as practice in future skills.
