Program Description

This course covers the essentials of piping and duct design, focusing on sizing, fittings, connections, and layout, with detailed guidance on chilled and condenser water pipe sizing, duct system design, and construction practices. It provides an in-depth understanding of chiller and cooling tower systems, emphasizing their principles, classifications, performance, and maintenance, along with essential standards, testing procedures, and practical design aspects. The course also offers a comprehensive overview of chilled water pumping systems, focusing on key components, piping arrangements, and distribution schemes, including terminology, pump head calculations, and HVAC piping circuits. Additionally, it explores the fundamentals of Air Handling Units (AHUs), their components, types, controls, and standards, and types of chilled water pumps. The course delves into static pressure significance in duct systems and insulation fundamentals, covering pressure loss types, calculation methods, and insulation concepts. Lastly, it provides an overview of high side and low side HVAC equipment, including chillers, cooling towers, AHUs, fan coil units, and air distribution systems.
